Learn about the importance of the Descarta project
there

The Descarta Aí Project is a program to encourage the recycling of post-consumer plastic buckets, and promoting the correct disposal of these materials. Observing the increase in demand for plastic buckets in all areas of the construction industry, the ABIPLAST - Brazilian Plastics Industry Association teamed up with YATTÓ to set up a reverse logistics program for these materials, guaranteeing the correct disposal of waste.

The Descarta Aí project aims to increase the recycling of post-consumer plastic buckets. The first contact with the project is at the point of sale, where the customer is exposed to communication and awareness materials, and the shopkeeper encourages them to return the packaging to the nearest collection point.

The first collection point is the flagship store of the Telhanorte chain, located on Marginal Tietê in São Paulo. There will be a total of 18 collection points in the states of São Paulo, Paraná and Ceará, These are concentrated in paint and building materials chains.

The program is an initiative of COFABI sponsored by BrasKem and has the financial support of the country's leading plastic bucket manufacturers: AlphaPlast, Barripack, Bomix, Chamfer, Fibrasa, Groupack and Jaguar Plastics.

The program also has the institutional support of the Brazilian Association of Paint Manufacturers (ABRAFATI) and the Greater São Paulo Retail Trade Union for Construction Materials, Machinery, Hardware, Paints, Crockery and Glass (SINCOMAVI).

How the project works

The entire implementation and operationalization of the reverse logistics project is the responsibility of the YATTÓ specialist in connecting waste generators to recycling cycles throughout the country, The company is already carrying out parallel projects with brands in the sector such as Suvinil e Vedacit. YATTÓ is responsible for all the intelligence and operationalization of the service related to the collection, transport and disposal of waste, guaranteeing legal criteria and environmental standards.

The project provides all the necessary facilities for storing waste free of charge, This includes communication, guidance and awareness-raising materials for consumers, including certificates of compliance with reverse logistics and support throughout the operation.

Another important aspect is the traceability offered throughout the chain, from start to final destination, with reports for approval.

Correct disposal at collection points, the shopkeeper temporarily stores the waste with all the infrastructure provided by the Descarta Aí project, Then a company approved by the program collects the waste and sends it for recycling or energy recovery.
